i wanna wash him, but i don't know if i have to use a special pet shampoo or i can just use human stuff. will human stuff harm him?Can i use shampoo and conditioner on a rabbit?
there is a dust that they can clean themselves with such as ferrets do.. and it smells very good too. but if you insist on b athing, use ferret shampoo. nothing with flea medication though cuz it is harsh on their skinCan i use shampoo and conditioner on a rabbit?
Rabbits should not need to be bathed unless they have gotten into something very messy. They are a self cleaning animal. However, if you find it necessary to bath them
No You should not use human stuff. Rabbits have very sensitive skin and human products cause lots of problems for them. I have used shampoo that was made for kittens in the past-it is generally mild. I currently purchase shampoo from my vet.
Well if you have shampoo that's meant especially for a rabbit you should use it, but if you don't then you should use baby shampoo. if you don't have that just wash him with just water. I have a rabbit too and I do this all the time. Just to tell you this is a two person job because one person has to hold on to the rabbit and the other has to wash. Good luck! : D
no, rabbits CANNOT get wet or they will die, they have extremely dense fur with air to keep them warm(thats what makes it so soft), if it gets soaked with water, there Is no way to completly dry the fur. People make a mistake with this because they can see the surface dry, but underneath the surface hair is where it is wet, they will eventually get so cold they die because rabbits do need warmth like any other creature. It's kind of like a person wearing a wet jacket that is impossible to get off, and that never dries. Even if it does dry in a number of days, your bunny's fur will be pernamently damaged, and it wont have the air trapped in it like a normal bunny's fur would, making it impossible to live in extreme cold/hot living conditions like a wild rabbit, and I do believe that cuts their life short by atleast a few years to half the regular life span. Also, your bunny's fur wont have that wonderful softness like any other rabbit, it'll probably be more similar to dog's fur. An alternitive way to clean your bunny, which is much safer, is to get some pet wipes or regular baby wipes and wipe him off, barely dampening him. I think they do make pet bath powder stuff for rabbits, but I'm sure you could just use the kind for dogs. Or, there's this thing called a brush.
I've had rabbits before. I don't think it'll be easy to wash him. Make sure you keep the water luke warm and shallow, and in the tub or somewhere where he can't jump out and make a mess too easily.
I've had many pets, and I've used special shampoo, and I've used my own Suave and Garnier Fructise shampoo. Don't believe me 100% because I'm not 100% sure!! Although the products will all say ';Not tested on Animals';, I'm pretty sure human shampoo won't hurt him.
I think animals are a lot sturdier than humans when it comes to that. I think a human is more likely to react to a specific shampoo than a rabbit, dog or other animal. I even use neosprorin on my dog if she ever gets a boo-boo!
I'm not sure if the human stuff will harm him, but I would use a pet shampoo and no conditioner- it worked fine for my rabbit. Try not to get his head wet and keep his ears out of the water. towel him dry then keep him cozy while he air dries.
Yes human stuff will harm him, get rabbit shampoo, and GENTLY wash him, if not gently they could die from the pressure!
