Make sure you do not over do it. Assuming the medication works, it will still take a few days for the itchiness to go away. This is because the shampoo only kills the lice and do not heal the wounds. The wounds are what causing the pain / itch.

';Treatment

Your doctor can recommend a medicated shampoo, cream rinse, or lotion to kill the lice. These may be over-the-counter (OTC) or prescription medications, depending on what treatments have already been tried. Medicated lice treatments usually kill the lice and nits, but it may take a few days for the itching to stop.

It's important to follow the directions exactly because these products are insecticides. Applying too much medication or too frequently can increase the risk of causing harm. Following the directions on the product label is also important to ensure that the treatment works properly.';

Sometime, over the counter medicine is simply too weak to be effective. In this case, you will need to see a doctor. Tell him what medicine you have already use and how long, these information will be helpful for him.How long does it take for lice shampoo to work?
Read the instructions.

And keep in mind the itchiness can last after all lice are gone.

The only way to acurately check if all lice are gone or if there is a new infestation is a fine comb DAILY!
read the directions on the bottle. should be done often and thoroughly. If done right it should only take 2 or 3 weeks. wash all her clothes and sheets and pillowcases and towels in HOT water. be sure you comb her hair a lot to get rid of the nits, or it will take longer to get rid of them. and check everybody else in the family, because those things get to evrybody.
